Goals, Anyone?

Reading this article at Simple Homeschool earlier this week made me realize that with all my best laid plans for getting organized and all the homeschooling musings I've pondered in the last few months I really put very little effort into considering what it is that Momma wants to accomplish during this time.

Hmm . . . what to do today?
So, because it's what I do, I made a list.

1. Commit (again) to daily Bible reading. I have developed a consistent habit of reading the Bible each day during my morning quiet time. However, often I just open it for 5 or 10 minutes while I sip my coffee and then feel like I checked that off let me move on to something else. I want to make a conscious effort to spend more time in prayer and reading before I start my days. I finished up Joel and Colossians this week. I start reading Genesis tomorrow.

2. Prioritize reading time over online time. I'm reading a book now that I started months ago and never finished. I fully intend to pick back up with my monthly book rave this month. And I keep finding books on Amazon that I would love to order. Yet I don't spend much time each day reading (not counting the reading we do for homeschooling). Funny, though, I can always find an hour (or two) to spend puttering on Facebook and/or posting comments, surfing online news, or "researching" Something That I Absolutely Must Know Everything About Right At This Exact Moment. Hmm. I think shutting off my computer for a large part of the day rather than just putting it in sleep mode when it's still open and sitting on my desk and I am tempted to check it 20 times a day might be best. (One of my favorite bloggers just mentioned this very thing in her post today.)

3. Work on this routine thing. I waffle between wanting more of a "schedule" to my days and feeling confined by one. However, I think I *need* one because otherwise I am a ginormous procrastinator and lose track of time.

4. Study along with my kids. It may be "just" kindergarten, but there's a lot to explore and I can definitely benefit from choosing a "curriculum" that includes things I'm interested in learning more about as well. For instance, despite the time I've spent in Italy my Italian leaves a lot to be desired. This is definitely something we can "work" on together.

I'm sure I can come up with many more, but time is short today, so I'll stop there.

Thanks for reading and have a blessed day.
