Top Ten {Tuesday}: Awesome Parenting Books

Top Ten Tuesday at Many Little Blessings Sharing this post at Many Little Blessings for Top Ten {Tuesday}. As always, thanks to Angie for hosting.

Following are ten awesome parenting books. All exemplify attachment/gentle/responsive/connection parenting. I encourage you to check them out. These have been some of my favorite reads over the last few years.

(Side note: In the past I added this list as a tab at the top of the blog, and I may move it back there, but I wanted to share it as a post here. Kind of developing a whole resources "thing" to include as part of this blog. Still a work in progress at this point.)

1. Attached at the Heart: Eight Proven Parenting Principles for Raising Connected and Compassionate Children
by Barbara Nicholson and Lysa Parker

2. Hold On To Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peers
by Gordon Neufeld and Gabor Mate

3. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change
by Stephen R. Covey
(Not exactly a parenting book, per se. However, after re-reading it recently, I find it has tons of useful advice applicable to raising children. Likely the subject of a future book rave.)

4. The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby From Birth to Age Two
by William Sears and Martha Sears

5. The Discipline Book: How to Have a Better-Behaved Child From Birth to Age Ten
by William Sears and Martha Sears

6. The Successful Child: What Parents Can Do to Help Kids Turn Out Well
by William Sears and Martha Sears

7. The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding
by La Leche League International

8. What Kindergarten Teachers Know: Practical and Playful Ways for Parents to Help Children Listen, Learn, and Cooperate at Home
by Lisa Holewa and Joan Rice

9. What Mothers Do (Especially When It Looks Like Nothing)
by Naomi Stadlen

10. What Not To Say: Tools for Talking with Young Children
by Sarah MacLaughlin

What would you add to this list?

Thanks for reading and have a blessed day.

  1. Looks like you've listed some great resources! Unfortunately for me, my kids are all grown up and married. (or fortunately!) I just stopped by from SITS to say hello; your kids are adorable. Hope you find time to return the visit.

  3. Love Hold on to your kids! Also loved "connected patenting" and "the entitlement trap". I wrote about them here:http://raisingflowersandskids.blogspot.ca/2011/12/best-10s-reading-list-2011.html?m=1
